Around the age of 12, I started to find a deep love for rock 'n' roll music. I started to get into bands such as Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc. and as I got more and more into their music, I had a desire to create my own. For about a year, I struggled to write lyrics or any musical compositions. From 2013 to 2015, I had started writing many songs. Some of these tracks had been released during that time period, others have been rewritten and released on newer albums, but many remain unreleased. In mid-2015, I received the Sheila Kosseff Memorial Award to further my education in music. Later that year, I started recording my first album, Les Arbres.
Once I started to find a songwriting and recording method that worked best for me, I got to working on my fourth album, Les Arbres. I wasn't really sure what I was looking to write until I listened to Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything?. That album inspired me to write and record a pop rock album of my own. The album ended up being a huge musical breakthrough for me. "Hey Miss Daisy" became my most listened to song within a week of the album's release. Other popular songs from the album include "Think of Love" and "Love Lowdown". Although this album was still rather simplistic, it showed a little more complexity than other songs I had written and recorded previously. On March 17th, 2016, I announced my departure from my band King of Diamonds. I felt as if the group wasn’t going anywhere and I was becoming fed up. A few months later, however, I’d recruit two of my former bandmates, Jake Bancroft and William Konys, to form our new band, Fully Empty.
With a rather somber tone and mood throughout most of the album, So It Goes... didn't do very well popularity wise. To this day, it remains one of my favorite releases of mine. I decided to write, record, and perform each song on the album singlehandedly. I wasn't just layering keyboards and synthetic instruments. For the first time, I used every instrument available in the studio. I began listening heavily to The Beatles and was heavily influenced by not only their songwriting but George Martin's production techniques as well. This sparked my interest in studio engineering and production which would later become my career path. The songwriting for So It Goes... was also inspired by lust and hatred. My heart had been shattered by several women all within the songwriting period for the album. Many think that the album was about one woman in particular but that is incorrect. The hatred reflected in the album didn't win over well with listeners. Although the production quality was better, the album failed to beat out it's predecessor popularity wise.
The songwriting for ...Change was a difficult obstacle to overcome. After the massive, never-ending heartbreak I had experienced throughout most of high school, I had started seeing someone which would turn out to be a 4-year relationship. I had never written about anything except longing for love and experiencing heartbreak. After a few months, I began writing a few love songs along with a song co-written with my then-girlfriend, Jamie, a gun control inspired piece, an anti-war song, and others. The overarching theme of the album is as the title implies, change. A change I hope to see in society, in our country, as well as change in my life like graduating high school and growing up. The album also marked a very important step production and mastering-wise. The sound quality on ...Change was the best of any albums released thus far and the songwriting and composing was some of my best thus far as well. In June 2018, during the recording sessions for ...Change, I received the National School Choral Award for my outstanding service, musicianship, and responsibility in the Rhinebeck High School Choral Program.
After three years of inactivity, Fully Empty finally had its first lineup. We began writing and working in the studio on our self-titled first album. Some of the tracks date back to 2014 while others were written during recording sessions. All of us were active in the recording process but the album was produced and mixed by me. It's by far the cleanest and most professional recording I had worked on up to that point. This album was fun to record because up until the recording sessions, all of my albums were really just me in the studio. It was very exciting, helpful, and rewarding to be able to work in the studio with my best friends who also happen to be very talented musicians. The recording of this album very much helped me set the stage for my releases to come both songwriting and production-wise.
2022 was a very busy year for me. After 4 years of not releasing any solo music, I had finally finished my fourth studio album, North Clover Street. This was by far one of the most fun and exciting solo albums I had worked on in years. After feeling great about my songwriting and producing abilities following the release of Fully Empty, I was eager to put my skills to use on another solo project. I decided on a concept album that follows the life of an Italian immigrant from Calabria, Italy who's forced to move to the United States in search of a better life. The songwriting for this album was some of the best I had ever had for a solo album. Although I played most of the instruments on my own like in previous releases, I had my fellow Fully Empty bandmates play several instruments on various tracks. My inspiration behind the music came from Billy Joel's album, 52nd Street. The concept was inspired by family who came from Calabria and moved to North Clover Street in the City of Poughkeepsie, NY where they lived for many years. The album was originally intended to be released back in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed recording which, in turn, delayed the release. After starting school in the SUNY New Paltz music program, I finally felt a push to get the album finished up and released.
Life Sounds was a project that had been in progress for a couple of years. It's a compilation of sounds that we hear throughout everyday life. John Lennon's late-sixties avant-garde style of recording is what primarily inspired me to create this album. It's also completely unlike anything I've worked on before and I was eager to try out something new. Every track was recorded on various dates at various times on my cell phone. Production, mixing, and mastering this album was a very quick process.Â
